Prof. Jayaweera’s Paper is Recognized as an IEEE Best Readings in Machine Learning
March 2, 2023
A paper authored by ECE Professor Sudharman K. Jayaweera in 2013 has been selected as one of the Best Readings in Machine Learning for Cognitive Radios by the IEEE Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc).
IEEE ComSoc's Best Readings is a collection of books, articles, and papers on a featured topic.
The paper is located within the topic area "Machine Learning, Self-Configuration, Distributed Adaptation, and Co-Existence of Cognitive Radios," and is entitled "A survey on machine learning techniques in cognitive radios," and can be found here.
Dr. Jayaweera’s paper was originally published in the 2013 edition of the Journal “IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials" and was co-authored with two of his former Ph.D. students.
“Perhaps the paper’s recognition is not a surprise given the fact that IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials is the highest impact factor journal in the area of Telecommunications according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) that examines the influence and impact of scholarly research papers," said Jayaweera.
Dr. Jayaweera is an expert in Cognitive Radios, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. He authored the paper at a time when these subjects were gaining significant interest in the context of cognitive radios and autonomous wireless communications. Interestingly, his paper appears as the Top Search Result if one were to search for “Machine Learning Cognitive Radios" in Google Scholar.
“My research was especially focused on ML/AI-based cognitive jamming and anti-jamming communications and game theoretic learning approaches to dynamic spectrum sharing and spectrum coexistence," said Professor Jayaweera.
