April 12, 2016

Charles ReubenECE Editorial Tech Chuck Reuben is one of three staff members within UNM's School of Engineering to win an Annual Staff Award.

Reuben will receive a plaque and a check for $1000 which will be presented to him at the SOE Annual Awards ceremony in the Centennial Engineering Center Auditorium at 11 am on Friday, May 6.

The other SOE Staff Award winners are Megan Morrison and Dan Cosper, who work at Computer Science.

Nominators for the Staff Award were asked to find a nominee who went above and beyond their traditional duties in the workplace.

"We were looking for initiative, the highest quality of work, exemplary attitude and a high level of adaptability," said April Davidson, Academic Operations Officer at The School of Engineering.

Reuben, who usually spends his day working as a graphic designer, webmaster and writer for the ECE department and Dr. Edl Schamiloglu, spent most of the last year renovating and relocating the ECE website.

"Chuck was responsible for moving all web content to the UNM web servers after we decommissioned the UNIX web server," said Tom Sahs, Systems Analyst I at ECE. "All our web content is now on a consistent, supportable and secure platform. Chuck also decides what stories to write on the ECE website. He then writes, edits, takes photographs and publishes them."

"I was thrilled and very thankful when I heard about the Staff Award," said Reuben. "I hope that I can repay the confidence and generosity that both the School of Engineering and ECE have shown me."

Reuben has worked at ECE for the last ten years. Prior to that he worked for 12 years at the Dean's Office in the School of Engineering where he ran the first duplicating facility at UNM to have a color copier.
