Hayat & Zarkesh-Ha Promise Cheap, Fast Web

Hayat and Zarkesh-Ha's technology could make high-speed, distortion-free, low-cost networks a reality.ECE Professors Majeed Hayat and Payman Zarkesh-Ha's Start-Up Company ("Dynamics Photonics") have been featured in the Spring 2016 edition of the STC.UNM newsletter.

STC is a non-profit business-oriented corporation owned by UNM whose purpose is to understand the potential market applications of technologies that are developed at UNM and to route them to companies that can commercialize them.

Hayat and Zarkesh-Ha's technology could make high-speed, distortion-free, low-cost networks a reality. The technology, called a dynamic bias-enhanced avalanche photodiode (DBE-APD), uses off-the-shelf avalanche photodetectors (APDs) for a new circuitry process that will enable receivers to transmit at speeds four to five times faster than receivers currently on the market.
