Sandra Biedron, Mariana Fazio & Christine Sweeney Present at 2022 APS
ECE (and ME) Research Prof Sandra Biedron, ECE Post Doc Researcher Mariana Fazio, and ECE Graduate student Christine Sweeney presented talks at the American Physical Society's (2022 APS) March Meeting in Chicago recently.
With more than 12,000 attendees, 2022 APS was the largest meeting of physicists in the world. This conference took place March 11-14 at The McCormick Place along the shores of Lake Michigan.
Mariana gave a talk on their team's Department of Energy EPSCoR program "Autonomous anomaly detection in MeV ultrafast electron diffraction" in the Autonomous Systems session.
Sandra gave a talk on their team's research with and funded by Brookhaven National Laboratory in the "Ion Coulomb Crystals in Storage Rings for Quantum Information Science" in the Hybrid/Macroscopic Quantum Systems, Optomechanics, and AMO Systems session.
Christine gave a talk on her research entitled "High-Performance Single-Particle Imaging Reconstruction on Pre-Exascale Computing Platforms," in the Building the Bridge to Exascale: Applications and Opportunities for Materials, Chemistry, and Biology II session.
Mariana was recently elected as a member at large for the American Physical Society's Forum on Diversity and Inclusion as well as the Forum for Early Career Scientists.
Sandra was recently elected as a member at large for the American Physical Society's Division of the Physics of Beams. Sandra is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
In addition to serving as a research professor at ECE, Sandra also serves as an advisor to the Physical Sciences Associate Laboratory Director at Los Alamos National Laboratory on accelerator science, technology, and engineering, as well as next-generation X-ray light sources for national security applications.
In addition to working to complete her Ph.D. at UNM, Christine has worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory since 2000 and serves as a Scientist and Deputy Team Leader of the Programming Models Team within the Applied Computer Science group at LANL.
