Deep Learning Class Offered this Spring!

Professor Manel Martinez-Ramon will offer a new class ECE595 – 006 Deep Learning starting in Spring 2023.
This course is intended to be an introduction to deep learning, where the student will learn the theoretical fundamentals of this discipline and will acquire the basic skills necessary to start developing their own deep learning designs in Python. The course will include programming in Pytorch and Tensorflow with which the student can become a serious deep learning developer.
Deep learning is a hot topic that is required in many new data scientist jobs, but that is being applied in almost every area in science and technology. While these techniques have been applied in image processing, including medical imaging, natural language processing, and others from a long time ago, at present many other areas as for example, civil engineering, communications, energy, electromagnetics or physics.
The topics to be covered include Introduction to deep learning, Deep learning tools, Convolutional Neural Networks, Advanced CNN structures Sequence modeling with recurrent neural networks and LSTMs, Non supervised approaches, Generative Adversarial Networks, and Deep Bayesian Learning.
