ECE Student Conference a Success

The ECE Graduate Student Association, along with the student branch of the IEEE student recently organized their very first New Mexico ECE Student Conference at UNM.

The conference took place on Friday, April 6, 2018, and the events were held at the Centennial Engineering Center, ECE building and historic Hodgin Hall.

The intention for organizing this conference was to build a platform that ECE students could use to present their research work in front of their peers and also get some constructive feedback.

This interdisciplinary event not only had various technical presentations for attendees to choose from but it also had some fun networking opportunities!

The day started with the keynote talk by Todd Fridley, the Vice President of New Mexico Operations at PNM.

That was followed by a poster session where twenty UNM and NMSU graduate and undergraduate students presented and defended their delightful and informative posters.

Members from the CIA and PNM also attended our poster sessions and they discussed their various job openings with the attendees. More than 100 students attended the poster session!

The afternoon meeting involved four parallel technical sessions containing a total of 20 talks. A "Best Presenter Award" was awarded within each session.

In the evening we had a conference social organized with the support of our alumni association at UNM. All ECE alumni were invited for this social event and it turned into a great networking event for the students.
