Tito Busani featured in IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics
Asst Prof Tito Busani reports that he, ECE Prof Manel Martinez, and recent PhD Grad Student, Rahul Jaiswal, were co-authors in a "Highlighted Paper" featured in the January 2023 edition of the Journal of Photovoltaics.
The article is entitled "Recent Advances in Silicon Solar Cell Research Using Data Science-Based Learning."
This work, the first of its kind, summarizes several published applications of machine models to speed up silicon photovoltaics research, providing a comprehensive map for the photovoltaic research and industrial community that links cell technology to the most efficient learning model for device optimization, process optimization and defect analysis. Rahul Jaiswal, Dr. Busani's Grad Student, demonstrated ML methodology for the first time to a solar cell device at the PVSC Conference in 2021 and walked away with the Best Poster Award for his work entitled "Hierarchical optimization of photovoltaic device performance using machine learning." Jaiswal discovered a better process to improve the efficiency of the solar cells, as well as to detect errors in the process steps during the fabrication.
"Highlighted Papers" are typically given special recognition and that's why Dr. Busani's et. al. paper was featured in the January 2023 IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics.
